Hot... Hot... Hot... Mani-Monday

Hot Hot Hot!!

Whilst the paws are still tanned... It's time to use some of the lovely bright colours out at the moment! I'm too old to carry off a full set of neon nails!

But I couldn't decide which of these beauties from L.A. Colors - Color Craze range so I used them all!! The base is Wet n Wild - French White Creme with a double helping of Revlon Ultra shine top coat! And ta da!!! Polka dots!

Pink - Pink Bubbles
Yellow - Shock
Orange - Spat

Now you don't need a fancy dotting tool, they're really cheap on EBay if you fancy doing it regularly  .. A champagne cork with a fancy pearl pin - you know the ones you get on fancy shirts and you're good to go... Wine corks aren't easy to hold and control...  PLUS you get to drink the champers! Win-Win!

MOVE!!! Motivation Monday...

Who is your biggest saboteur? Who is the person cheating on you? Who is procrastinating?  Is it you? Have a little think about it... sometimes it's ourselves who are the biggest road block on our journey.... Eating that cream cake won't help... momentarily it will taste soooo good... but if you're eating it because you're miserable, angry, pissed off or just feel like it's hopeless and you're just useless at EVERYTHING *insert Hollywood style faint here*, or you just feel like giving up... then it's not going to help one little bit.. in fact it's going to start a downward spiral... in the vicious circle of comfort eating, you'll end up feeling rubbish and just end up trying to comfort yourself with even more rubbish... you see it all the time... people who lose weight then put it all back on with some more to boot... and  no one ever comfort eats apples! You'll shout at yourself... 'sure whats the point?!' ... but you will never shut that inner voice up with food.. tell her to zip it or be more helpful... she's not really helping you... so tell her to shift... move... you can do it... if you really want it... and its easy to get others to move but sometimes you've get out of your OWN way...

Do it with pride!

Dublin Pride Parade is tomorrow ... a chance for Dublins' Lesbian and Gay community to stand up and be proud of who they are and let the world know it ... and anyone who isn't proud of 'em just stay at home!!!

I'm not one to put religion or politics on here... this blog is about my weight loss journey... but sometimes ya gotta just stick up for something thas good and gets a bad rap... the pictures will do most of the talking ...

Gay, straight, male, female, old, young, rich or poor, fat or skinny... we're all just people... and we're all struggling along on this big lump of rock, flying through space...  and it's not easy!

I'm a hippy child... a lover not a fighter... My summer holidays were spent in banana plantations in Queensland... with an family who are into cabaret singing... gay folk have never registered on my rage scale... I just like people... all kinds of people... and as long as your choices don't effect me... do what you like... Now I don't mean that I'll turn a blind eye to something that's wrong... but someone being gay doesn't effect my lunch, shopping, my right to sing badly at karaoke ... being a pain as a human, certainly... your gayness doesn't make you less annoying than the straight people who bug me either...

Some folk just don't know how to accept 'different' ... In my class in school there were 28 different nationalities, the school was full of immigrating families... but Sydney was a 'new world' full of opportunities for young couples and families with trades... For me the 'norm' was mixed races learning from each other... for the first three years of primary school I had convinced everyone I was an Irish princess! Nothing changed there then... ;P

However when I went came to high school in Ireland... It was like someone had dropped me out of a UFO and kids just stared... they have never seen an Aussie before... I talked funny... I had much darker skin than most of em... and I had done things that kids here had never done... 'was everything upside down where I came from?' ... I was different... but I never had to hide who I was or pretend that I was 'normal' to fit in... Gay people don't have the same joy... and Dublin Pride lets them stand up and say 'I'm proud of who I am'...

Difference is what people fear... not just people being homosexual either ... but difference in general ... being deaf... disabled... obese... dyslexic... anorexic... geez even gingers get picked on...  some people in the world just can't deal with difference or as they perceive it 'not normal' ... it's out of their comfort zone ... but it's up to us to teach the next generation that difference is good... difference is what makes life interesting... difference doesn't mean hate... learn from it... embrace it... I love my gay friends and family... but like all friends and family they get on me nerves too... and it's not because they're gay... its because they're people! Teaching children that the world is full of different people and different places, is a good thing... teaching them that there are people in the world who hate for arguments sake, is a good thing... teaching them that you can learn something from every single person on this planet, is an amazing thing... just because they don't look like you, love the same gender as you, can't hear, see, walk whatever... doesn't mean that they don't have something to offer you and the world...

If you're out and about this weekend and get a chance... pop along to pride and watch these people be proud of who they are .. be proud of Ireland, finally it might be getting to grips with it all and remember they'll always be the chosen few who will hate on everything... wave and smile at them... we're not going to be on this flying rock for long, don't waste your time getting angry cause someone else has better dress sense than you... or damn it better legs!

'And now for the swimwear section...'

Firstly let me state for the record I am not, 100% without any shadow of a doubt, a fashion expert... but I've had some requests for some some clothes related posts... lads, you're free to sit this one out ...  First up... swimwear ... yup...

In my opinion... once you know what suits your body shape you're half way there... I can't wear halter neck swimwear... *sobs* and I LOVE the look on other people but I'm in the big boob brigade and it's just not flattering on me... my neck hurts cause the pair of 'em are feckin heavy and I even look miserable... strapless will only work when I'm on the sun bed so I can control any wardrobe malfunctions... I'm also a HUGE fan of the swim dress and skorts... My belly is still massive and I'm more confident when it's VERY covered up thank you very much!

And it's all about confidence when you're stripping down at the pool and your bits are on show... and they're not even brown yet it's terrifying!!!

Not everyone can fit into a bikini in Pennys... and the majority of women are different sizes top and bottom ... it's just our Irish bodies... we're mostly pear shaped, which gives us fabulous booty but can make it hard to buy a swimsuit 'off the rack' as they say across the pond...

Now when I say 'PLUS SIZE' I actually mean 'PLUS SIZE'... size 14 in my opinion isn't plus size! But the majority of these sites do 'normal' grrrrrrrr size too... I won't rant...

Anyhoo...  I'll start with ASOS CURVE...

ASOS CURVE is available up to size 28 and at the moment, shipping is free! They also do a range of the bigger retro style 'bottoms' that hold you in and you can buy them separately if you have a bikini top you'd rather wear... Tankinis and full swimsuits are also available and all the bikini tops I looked at are under wired to keep everybody... um... perky! ahem... Check them out >>> HERE <<<

Next up.. NEW LOOK... >>> HERE <<< their 'Inspire' range is pretty good! At the moment, the colours are classic black and red and go up to a size 26 ... and while you're there, check out the Kelly Brook range... She does a range of Longline bikini tops that are really pretty and go up to an E cup... note these are ALL halter neck... *sobs*

Next... Simply Be... >>> HERE <<< now don't roll your eyes and think that it's granny catalogue stuff... in my opinion they're one of the best online! There's a couple of versions where you can mix and match, shorts, sundresses tops and bottoms to suit yourself which is great... The retro style bottoms are fab and suck it all in, they've got a section specifically for 'Shapewear swimwear' and a section on swim dresses but they're not 'Pennys' cheap... but in my opinion, if you want a cozzie that you can relax in and saunter about the pool and not be self conscious then ya gotta invest...

Yours Clothing UK >>> HERE <<< are great for cheap and snazzy dresses and tops (I know .. snazzy?!?!) and they're togs are really pretty too... with tummy control people!!!

Got cousins in the USA? Doesn't matter...  MACY*S now ships internationally >>> HERE <<<  Search for discount codes online too and you can get up to 20% off your order with a single google...

Remember you're two sizes smaller in the US ... I KNOW!!! ... but check out the measurements to be really sure!

Lane Bryant is another US company that does Plus Size swimwear... >>> HERE <<<  and again deliver to Ireland... They also do swim skirts and skorts for the thigh worriers... both patterned and simple black... watch the shipping costs and again finding a discount code online is easy peasy...

Last up... if you're still reading and haven't abandoned me... is from US company Mod Cloth... cute and quirky cozzies ... they have a real 'retro' rockabilly chick look to them...  check them out  >>> HERE <<<  FYI... I've ordered two dresses from this site and both fitted perfectly.. but again you know your body best so check out the sizes...

These are just a few of my favs from online for holidays... you won't be doing your morning laps in the local pool in these... WAY too pretty...

For high street... check out Debenhams, they do a section online in DD cupped swimwear, Floozie is a great range up to size 18... Curvey Kate goes up to a 38G... and Gorgeous goes up to a 40G with bottoms up to a size 20...  there's a great selection out there and postie will deliver them without the traumatic trip to the shops! No matter what... enjoy your holidays!!! xxx
