This week...
The Journey...
Do you drive a car? Would you pass your driving test again if you had to re-sit it? or have you developed enough bad habits to set you up with some new "L" plates? So many of us refer to our weight loss as a "journey" ... and for many the analogy is true.. From roundabouts to traffic lights the road to goal is rarely a straight line!
Are you stuck on a roundabout? Up a half pound .. down a pound.... up a half... down 1... up 2... you're body doesn't even have the decency to stay the same! Think about what has you there? What push do you need to get off the roundabout and take the exit you need to... if its motivation you need.. hang up your favourite summer dress where you see it EVERYDAY! Stick a pic of it on your phone... I know its only April.. but think about how you would feel this Christmas if you were at goal... whatever mini goal is going to get you back on track.. do it!
Series of bends ahead...
You know its coming... that weekend away.. your nieces wedding ... girls night out... and not too long now.. the summer holidays... its a struggle before you even pack your lip gloss! Events happen because life happens... without all those gigs and functions .. life would be pretty dull.. the way I see these are you have 3 choices.. 1 - Go.. enjoy yourself, enjoy your food (remember though.. food isn't the event!) ... and start afresh the next day ... 2 - Plan in advance.. earn some extra ProPoints, lighten up on the days before and after and let yourself enjoy it but go with the mentality of.. "I'm having dessert and I can't wait!" and why shouldn't you... but if there's going to be alcohol.. maybe drive... don't have a starter.. you'll enjoy your dessert all the more 3 - Be miserable.. stare longingly at the cocktail list... and let everyone know "I'm on a diet.. and I CAN'T have fun!" ...
Having a bumpy ride? Then strip it back to basics.. Go back to the start... do not pass go, do not collect €200, go directly to the start... re-read your books... start at zero and get your calculator out.. point things you 'think' you know.. be sure.. don't forget your water... exercise.. see where you're missing something... everyone goes through a bumpy patch... generally we all know what and how we got there - usually birthday cake and sauvignon blanc.. just don't turn back.. ride it out, as the ad says.. you're SO worth it..
Services...
Pulled in have we? Having a little break? Using it as an excuse? Giving yourself some "time off" means you aren't really seeing this as healthy eating.. "its a diet and I need a break from it!" ... There's no need for your life to be all consumed by ProPoints and trackers.. but you are learning a healthier way of living... are you really hungry? Grab the apple first.. then if you REALLY want the chocolate.. go ahead.. but are you really hungry for chocolate? You want to eat healthy for life, whilst LIVING! SO yeah enjoy the chocolate cake but tomorrow have the apple... its all about balance! No one got fat eating apples.. unless they were in a pie!
Steep Incline ahead...
You know that feeling when you wake up and think.. its just too hard.. I've got too much to lose.. I'm NEVER gonna make goal... remember at the top of a steep incline is a view and free wheel down! It doesn't go on forever... push through and the rewards will be amazing.. you'll even surprise yourself at how strong you are...
Give Way.. Yield...
Are you putting others first? A people pleaser? If you are not at your best for you.. then you're not at your best for anyone... to be a healthier version of you benefits everyone.. put you at the top of the list sometimes... take time for your exercise.. your meals..
Clamped... aaaaahhhh .. sabotage! Someone got their claws into you... 'oh go on'.. 'just have one'.. 'it won't hurt'.. 'you're thin enough'... you know the deal.. do this journey for you! If they don't support you.. let them know it... remind them that you would support them... are they true friends with your best interests at heart?
How to turn a U-TURN to your advantage? Walk out the front door and keep walking for 10 mins ... turn about and walk BACK! There's your 20 mins exercise! You've really only got to walk for ten.. the rest is bringing you back home!
