All you need is just a little PATIENCE!

OK so who sang Guns'n'Roses reading that?!! Something that was going round my head the other night as I read my WW magazine... I'm kinda nerdy when it comes to my Weight Watchers mag... I quickly flick through it when I get it but savour it over the coming weeks, reading success stories and recipes bits at a time, so it lasts me the month... Silly I know but it's how I roll... As I was reading each success story from Mays issue, I realised how long some people have been working to lose their weight... this August I will be three years on the wagon! I have slipped, JUMPED... even staged dived off it spectacularly some weeks but in the last three years I haven't given up... that's the one thing that has changed... and that's my top tip when anyone asks how I've lost weight... 3 years to lose 8 and half stone... and it makes total sense when you see it like that...

I've joined ALL the slimming clubs, done all the shakes, plans, pills you name it... but Weight Watchers has been fav in my house with my family since I was a child... I was in meetings with my mother in Australia as a kid and it's worked for people I know... but over the years I have given up for many reasons... one bad week and it was the scales fault... someone I joined with was doing better than me,  I resented it, felt like a failure and gave up... because I had so much to lose, when I didn't lose a stone a week I just thought I had failed... and rejoining always gave me the excuses... I'll start after Christmas, Easter, the bank holiday, my birthday... but this time I've worked out that I need to do it for me... and it takes time... it has taken time but it has worked and is still working for me... because I'm not blaming anyone but myself when I'm up... My leader doesn't lead me into the chipper after the pub... No one has ever force fed me a crisp sandwich... But I also don't get down when someone else loses more than me... or gets to goal before I do... I've stopped comparing my journey to every one elses... We're all different and that's why you just have to calm down and listen to your body... giving up after week two because you didn't see the result you thought you deserved means your hearts just not really in it... there are two ladies in my class as well as myself who don't see the losses on good weeks... and we've learned that if you work at it, it will show... it will...

In the success stories last month it has taken people 2 years, 18 months, joining twice, three, four times for it to click and you have to be patient with yourself and REALLY ... REALLY want it...

Having goals is a must... a wedding dress and big birthday... a Christmas party.. an ex boyfriend you wanna piss off... a school reunion... what ever it is, you need some spot on the timeline to set yourself a realistic goal... if you lost 1lb a week that would be perfect... any more is a bonus...

Sure there are people who lose 2 stone in 2 months and fair play to them.. but we're all different and that's the message I took from last months issue... some of them are at goal... some of them aren't but they didn't give up on week two because the scales said they were up... they have all taken responsibility for their health and their journey... so don't throw the baby out with the bath water... if you've been good and stuck to the plan then it will show on the scales.. maybe not today but next week... the weight didn't go on overnight it's not going to fall off overnight either and the worst thing you can do is compare yourself to others... be inspired but remember this is your journey and yours alone...
