Giveaway #1: Win Weight Watchers’ “Seriously Satisfying” by Penny Stephens

February traditionally sees the new found dedication to healthy diets and weight control we had in January, start to fade... resolutions? what are they?? So here's a little something to refresh the motivation and kick start spring!

I'm lucky enough to be a WW Superfan and I get to review recipes, cook books and new products they are sending out to the masses! One of these books is Seriously Satisfying... so as I have an extra copy.. I'm putting it up for grabs...

Seriously Satisfying has 130 delish, easy to follow recipes in 10 chapters, ranging from 'cooking for me' to 'family food' and an entire chapter called 'chocolate heaven!' There's over 60 vegetarian recipes and all the recipes have 'tips' and alternatives for vegetarian options.

Recipes include sausage and mushroom sarnie, paella with chorizo, butterflied garlic chicken, basked alaska and marbled chocolate cheescake!

So, I have one copy to give away to Skinny Doll readers and better still, it's available to any winner worldwide.

To give you a flavour of what’s inside why not take a look at my review ......

Simply Satisfying

  1. When my motivation starts to wane, I think about my father RIP, and I say to myself that he would be so happy to see me at a healthy weight, as I was always overweight when he was alive.

  2. For me I have lost so many people in my family this past year to Cancer...when I need motivation I just think about all of those who would live to still be here. God gave me a chance to live a healthy life...how could I nor take care of myself so I can be here longer?!

  3. Reading other peoples stories or I bought jeans in my next size down so I have something to aim for :)

  4. I use photographs of when I was thinner and when I was larger to motivate me. I find that really helps. This week I am back tracking religiously, that helps too. It's a pita being so precise but it always gets me back on track.

  5. Reading the blogs by my fellow slimmers always spurs me on - just knowing that I'm not alone, and hearing what other people are doing to get out of a hole, always helps me!

  6. This is very timely - I am struggling with motivation at the moment as I STS last week and put on 1/2 pound this week despite following the plan RELIGIOUSLY and tracking everything! So to ramp up my motivation I cook some new recipes (would love to try some from the book!). I also make sure to go to my meetings and look at blogs like yours, it really helps to see how other people are getting on.

  7. For motivation I try on all the clothes from when I was slimmer that I really want to fit back into. I also try on clothes from my starting weight so I can see how far I have come and how far I have to go. Keeping only one pair of 'fat' clothes so you can see where you were is a great motivator, and getting rid of the rest of them gets rid of the comfort of knowing you have clothes you can 'grow' back into. It always gives me the extra boost I need to get back on track!

  8. Internet, blogs, success stories etc but mainly I turn to music - it lifts you and carries you away, it is says the words that you cannot speak. Even instrumental pieces 'talk'

my daughter told me to listen carefully to The Climb by Miley Cyrus -it is Beautiful!
I also love It's the Moment of Truth by Survivor (showing my age lol) from Rocky soundtrack.
Both are enbedded in my weightloss diary now.

  9. When i have a tough day i put in my ipod go for a walk, come back and write a list of all the reasons why "I" am doing this... you may have your dark days but remember this is what YOU want....

do a list!!!!! keep it on your fridge door. We all have different reasons for loosing the weight... keep your goal in mind... and you will reach it!

  10. The best motivation for me is to talk to other people. I signed up to an internet page and regularly look at that. Reading about other people's success is helpful, but I also like to tell them when it's not going too well for me. They all understand what I am going through and what a struggle it can be at times, so they know how to help.

My mum is in Germany and also trying to lose some weight. We call each other regularly and are brutally honest with each other. We say whether we're having a good or bad week and report our weight loss/gain. It feels good to report a loss but it's also good to chat about why the week didn't go well. Sometimes we pick each other back up and sometimes we're more brutal and tell each other that we HAVE to be stronger. A kick up the bum can be quite good

  11. I think of my baby girl, she is only 4 months old and I don't want her to grow up with an overweight mother and develop all my bad habits. My Mum was overweight. I am the image of her and always assumed when people said that we were alike it meant that I was fat as well. I want to break the fat cycle for my baby girl.

  12. I take out a really old item of clothing, and try it on. Have a good look at myself and realise how far I've come and how different my life is now to when I was 6stone heavier!! Then if I'm still feeling a bit "ugh" I just get myself out of the house and as far away from the kitchen as possible - and preferably to do some exercise! Had a moment just like this at the weekend, and just put myself into autopilot until I got to the gym, once I was finished and back home I felt great, and any "I could eat all round me" thoughts were long gone!

  13. I hit the music and start moving.

  14. Imagining myself in my first ever bikini on holidays or a nice sleeveless dress is a major motivation factor for me. If I STS or gain for no reason, I try and think to myself, well at least I have lost this much and imagine what I would be like if I had never of started on this journey. One thing which is a few years into the future, is I want to have children (newly married) and know that it will be very hard at this weight and cause unnecessary complications for the baby :)

  15. I've only been weightwatching for 3 weeks but the cold isn't good for me and wanting to snack. Strange as it might sound I feel my hipbones which I can feel again after a while of being covered by fat and have a look online at clothes that I will treat myself to when I drop a size.

  16. I buy myself a size smaller jeans to get into... Gives me a proper kick up the backside

  17. I use several things to motivate myself - mainly my little 10month old John. I want to be fit and healthy for his sake so I can be the best mom I can be and hopefully be around for him for a long long time.
I read the ww threads and weight loss blogs to get tips and idea and when I see how other people are succeeding and reaching their goals, it seems so much more achievable. Then I get up off my ass and go out for a nice long walk with John in his buggy - always feel great afterwards.
Finally, I have weightwatcher success stories stuck to the inside of the biscuit cupboard. Hasn't failed yet.

  18. Every weigh in, or day when I feel good, I write a little comment with my weight into a book, the 'oh my god this is an amazing feeling! I lost 2 lbs!' and 'today my belt closed an extra notch' -- so when I feel my motivation slipping, I go back and reread them comments -- then I'd all fired up again :)

  19. Getting some exercise always helps me, getting those happy hormones flowing just get me into a more positive frame of mind. Reading back my own blog reminds me how good I will feel if I just get moving. Reading other people's blogs and knowing everyone struggles from time to time helps too. Once I get the exercise in, the eating seems to fall in to place for me.

  20. Well i always buy a dress to small and hang it on the wall in my bedroom and as the weight is coming off i accessorize it but if i gain weight the dress remains lonely. I find it helps because its the first thing i see every morning and the last one at night. Also i take my own measurements so i can track the "bits" that the scales cant.
