Yes Dolls! We're halfway through the challenge! And get a look at the losses! Brill! 84lbs already! Way ahead of any of the other challenges! Go us!
Since we're halfway.. its a little time to think.. so this weeks mini challenge is to think... that's it.. just think... about how far you've come.. and how far you have left.. and how well you've done.. think about setting yourself a challenge.. a REAL challenge... Choose something the will do some good not just for you and your body but someone else will benefit too... maybe its the Mini-marathon next year.. set yourself a time.. 'I'm going to do it under 2 hours/1 hour.. for X charity.... and I'm going to start training for it now!' Personally I'm looking at a 400k cycle in Cuba for breast cancer and raising 5k to get there, its a 10 day charity cycle and it sounds mad but why should I doubt myself, why CAN'T i do it? Whats stopping me from trying? ME! Just silly old me! Its been on my mind for a while and whilst I'm not the best cyclist in the world and my gammy knee might hold me back.. I think I need to set myself something big to prove to myself I CAN do it! I'm definitely doing the mini marathon next year.. and my physio says I can as long as I'm sensible and do all my knee strengthening exercises its all go.. so what would you love to achieve.. a half marathon.. a 10k, a 5k, a 300m swim in the sea, triathlon, sponsored walk... a mountain climb... top of Carrauntoohil, base camp at Everest.. The Sugar loaf.. everyone has their own dream... and there's so many events on .. so this week, have a think about how you can challenge yourself and by think time next year we'll have the blog full of trophies and medals! You can do it.. only thing stopping you is YOU! So thinking caps on...
Here's two that I spotted up on our local pool notice board!
Exercise this week.. I'm being kind.. its stretches! My fitness guru is always banging on about the importance of stretching.. before you even get out bed.. streeeettccchhhh... from tips of fingers over your head to the tips of your toes.. trust me its simple but effective! Plus is so good for you! Touch your toes waiting for the kettle...
It increases your physical performance. If your joints are flexible, you need less energy to go through the motions.. You can burn more calories and your ability to lift weights is greater if your joints are happy!
This is the stretch chart from Curves that they suggest ...
Less risk of injury as your muscles are warm and you're less likely to strain something! AND.. stretching increases the blood supply and nutrients to your joints meaning more oxygen (energy!) so your endurance and intensity is up! Win win...
If you need a bit of guidance, cause its easy to stretch and actually pull something that was perfectly fine! Check out this link... there's great tips and you can watch them do all the stretches BEFORE you pull a muscle and curse me from a height!
Plus when we're all old in the nursing home.. those of us who have stretched will be able to catch the cute male nurses easier! So.. stretching now are we! Good!!! Have a great week and remember this weeks top losers are winning Skinny treats! Lets be having you! Doll x
Down 1lb this week. Was secretly hoping for more, but I have to keep reminding myself that slow and steady wins the race.I get jealous of others big losses, but everyone is different and this is my journey and not anyone elses. So on that note am delighted with my 1lb loss :-)
ReplyDeleteDid well on last weeks challenge - for the weekdays had nothing after my main meal, no 9pm digestives while watching telly or anything. Gonna try keep it up as it did just go to show how much pointless snacking gets done.
Well done!1 lb is not to be sniffed at! if you had been up from bloating or hormones or just the weather (YES i do blame the weather sometimes!) you would have been gutted.. so good stuff! I'm amazed at how much snacking I do after I've had my dinner! I'm not even hungry .. just gaffing about! I LOVED your beef wellington post btw! Am making it next weekend! I'm such a carnivore! Pretty new pic too! x
DeleteThanks! The Beef Wellington is one of my favourite things I've made recently. Let me know how it turns out for you x
DeleteDown 2.75lb this week. I had a really good week. I stuck to the no eating past 7 and it helped. Also switched my breakfast from Crunchy cereal which left me bloated to a WW yogurt and fruit. And I've finally conquered lunges. I watched some pretty nifty youtube videos and realised that I've been doing them wrong. Thanks Doll for the motivation.
ReplyDeleteGREAT loss! go you! Some of the fitness vids are great and show you exactly where you're going wrong.. I was doing my shoulder stretches ALL wrong and wondered why I was still so stiff! Plus you can do them all at him win your pjs and not feel like a fool with all the gym bunnies watching on! LOL Well done missy! x
DeleteOnly lost 2lbs this week due to being at a certain Snow Patrol gig and being freezing which lead me to warm my cockles on some chips, and then was sick the past few days. But 2lbs is still something :) got to start walking again now/actually using my gym membership.
ReplyDelete2lbs is brilliant! I was down one and I'm praying to the Gin gods that it all doesn't show next week! EEK! well done x
ReplyDeleteWell done to everyone on the losses.
ReplyDeleteI am letting the side down. I STS again.... and I was lucky I got away with it. Back on the wagon now today. Going on holidays at the weekend for a week so although I've decided not to track while I'm away and give myself a little break. I'm going to try and say "NO" every now and again and get out to the beach for a llllooonnngggg walk every evening.
I'm feeling abit sick of it all at the moment so I think the holiday is coming at the right time.
Not letting anyone down... none of that crazy talk on here please young lady! A break is probably what you need.. there comes a point when you're just.. 'if I see ONE more feckin POINT!.. I'll scream!' and just enjoy your hols... its what life is about.. we'll be here when you get back all refreshed and happy! xxx
