You can't handle the truth!

*raises hand*

Yes, I'm one of those people who used to take every little criticism to heart.. in fact I still over think comments and MAKE them all about me! I know, how important am I?!?!  Part of this journey has been to learn how to handle criticism properly... It comes in all shapes and forms and its very easy to throw you off balance... and depending who is dishing it out it can cut you to the bone...

Maybe my skin is getting a little thicker now but I tend to let it slide 95% of the time...

I know the comments are coming from a place of love and it's the only way that my family can deal with it... it's not meant in a malicious way... but from experience I can tell you... over reacting on my part hasn't helped one bit.. I've been called oversensitive now because I make a stand... but its OK I'm still on my track...

When it's something hurtful... then I do address it, unless it's from a stranger who I don't ever have to deal with again... without the tears (most of the time...) but I've made a stand about negativity... At a party recently I told a family member if she couldn't say something positive about me then I didn't want to hear it... she was stunned but the comments have stopped! I didn't fight with her... I didn't give her a hard time.. I just asked her in a very nice way to stop!

My advice when someone says something out of line... stay calm... sometimes the criticism comes from a good place... but the tone in which it is delivered is the problem... people often think they're being helpful and wonder what happened when you lose the plot! Think about why they said it... it may have come from a place of love, they may be worried about you and your health, they know you're miserable and don't know how to fix it... so they think by telling you to go on a diet might solve it.. and rather than pounce defensively... breath... and consider your response... if they've been really tactless then tell them that... but it can be the only response from some people, who honestly don't know what to say... they've never been to fat camp... they're not sure what to say and they're worried about you and love you... and it's blurted out in a tone that just makes you wonder if they even know who you are! If it's not from a place of love kill em with kindness and know you're a better person than they are! x

Cozzies!

Yup... holidays are coming.. and I don't mean the Coca Cola truck! Swimwear... lets be having ya!

Every magazine and article is wondering if we're all 'beach body ready!' sigh... to quote one of my favourite people...

OK so getting your kit off at home in the dark in the privacy of your own home is bad enough... but when you're away and you have to get your bits out you just want to be wearing something that's flattering and comfortable!  We can't all fit into a bikini from Pennys/Primark but there are some fab cozzies out there that will bring out your best bits! So this week, here's what available from Simplybe.ie

So... if your boobs are fab... go for a support / wired top... halter neck can be very flattering and make sure it plunges... if you got em... flaunt em! Plus we all know they distract from a wobbly tum and thighs...

If your legs are good... high cut leg on the bottoms... these ones from have little cords at the side so you be as brave as you like... also you can adjust the fold along the waist to cover as much or as little as you want! Plus... look at the colour!!! So nice to get away from black especially when you're away in the sun...

If you're conscious of your tummy... a tankini is the way forward... you might even roll it up a little, once you realise you're not the only human with a tummy at the pool! G'wan ya tease!

Another tip for the belly wobbles is to go retro! Hit it up like Marilyn Monroe with some 50s style briefs and don't forget the accessories!

Plus a matching cover up for those trips to the mojito bar... what!?!?
If you smiled you're as guilty as I am!

and if you're like me... and fear the general public in general... get a swim dress... you can skip in and out of the pool, and on your sun lounger without fretting about anything... these are SO flattering and will give you ALL the confidence you need pool side

The trick with swimwear is to know your shape... and what your best bits are...
them mix and match to show em off!

If you're looking for a 'sporty / surfer chick' look, this is one for messing down at the beach!
Tussle your hair LOTS in this!

The contrast piping on this sexy number is very flattering! Plus did you SEE the mesh bit?! HOT!

All these are available from Simplybe.ie online...
so don't be stuck for something cute to bring on your holidays!

TRESemmé Styling tips...

Last week I went along to the TRESemmé styling session in the Morrison and honestly I got some great hair tips to share... My hair fine and has 'the frizz' most of the year and in this weather, humidity, yes even in this damn miserable weather, my hair plays up, remember Monica in Friends "IT'S THE HUMIDITY!" ... I also have the most static hair in the country, ever... so I needed some advice..

Daniel Lynes from TRESemmé was there to give a VIP Styling session...
and all questions were answered!

Everyone got a new 'do' and the stylists from
The Powder Room Girls and Rachel Cleary Hair & Beauty
were giving out great tips ...

So for my barnet... volumising dry shampoo... that is the way forward...
because its so fine, and I swim I should use this between washes to keep some lift in the roots...

Very pretty cocktails and nibbles to keep the energy levels up...

this beauty lark is tiring ya know...

So, top tips from Daniel ...

Use heat to make the most of your styling products... if you put volumising mousse in your hair, use heat to get the best result! Common sense but it really does work... I'll put my paws up and admit I regularly chuck in some mousse, leave it to dry and then wonder why it gets all heavy and sticky... doh!

And USE the heat in your hair to give you volume... add your product... style it with pin curls or rollers.. let it cool down in place before you uncurl your locks, it'll last longer!

For static in your hair... use a hydrating shampoo... and a leave-in light conditioner... turn down the fan in the car (who knew?!!) and use hairspray... just a little between your hands and just smooth over your hair will sort it out.. and you know what... it has.. I tried it over the weekend and my hair behaved!

Now, can we all see the 'humidity resistance' on that pretty can of hairspray???
No more 'MONICA' for me I tell you!

AND can we just focus in on the 48 HOURS FRIZZ CONTROL!
I'll be back with a review on this in the next couple of weeks!
Frizz be gone!

The Inglot team were there to add the finishing touches ...

and the lovely Valerie from Dublin Nails did my manicure...

#TRESformation indeed, everyone left looking and feeling luffly!
Now to get washing the frizz away!

and thanks to the fab gals in Evoke for a great event!
