Granolas & Breakfast biscuits...

Some of the new 'healthy' breakfast things on the market! Don't be fooled! The Kelloggs Nutrigrain Biscuits are a great idea if you're not a breakfast type.. you can eat them on the go and you will get your metabolism going! I'm not sure how far into the day they'll get you before you get the munchies but at 5 PP for a pack, if you really can't face porridge or fruit or toast... they'll get you into the breakfast habit! The granolas are high and most people have them with yogurt so you have to all for that from your points...

Great start to the challenge too! The chart is looking very impressive! Stick with it.. summers coming!

  1. I found the nutrigrain biscuits rubbish for keeping you full. Literally 20 mins later I was starving. For ages I was having the nature valley bars (also 5pp a pack) for breakfast and with a cup of tea and banana def better at keeping me going til lunch. Im now forcing down porridge and while im still not made on the taste - it def makes a difference to my hunger not only until lunch but throughout the day also.

    1. add some fruit to your porridge.. or some cinnamon.. just a sprinkle can make all the difference! I'm gonna try the biscuits tmrw.. I'm a porridge gal to be fair.. and I chuck all kinds of fruit into it and i'm stuffed till lunch! Will report back.. although I'm hungry at the thought of it! LOL

    2. I put some fruit yoghurt into it - i make it with water so it makes it sweeter and creamier at the same time. I've tried it with fresh fruit and its not for me. I don't really like fresh fruit mixed with stuff - only on its own. I've tried all sorts in my porridge but yoghurt is definitely best. Im still eating it every morning though cos apart from eggs - its the healthiest and best propoint value breakfast there is.

  2. I don't think breakfast biscuits are a good idea. They're likely to be full of sugar which will just give you a high and then a quick drop. You could probably make a batch of healthier breakfast biscuits yourself without the sugar, maybe honey or maple syrup for a natural sweetener. If you can't face a massive breakfast or don't have time a pot of natural or Greek yoghurt would be better. If you don't have time to make any breakie in the morning then make some over night oats.

I'm an oats/porridge kinda gal too. I put loads of different toppings on my oats from fruits, nuts, raw chocolate nibs, natural/Greek yoghurt. I love experimenting with my porridge.

  3. I use the biscuits in an emergency and although I haven't tried the Nutri-Grain ones, I had the Belvita ones last Saturday (6pp for 4) and they kept me going for hours without one tummy rumble. Normally I'd have either bran flakes or benefit (the Aldi special K) with some fruit but I'm slowly returning back to the porridge, it's really handy.
