Get Skinny for Summer Challenge!


40 Days to Summer! Its here... the Get Skinny for Summer Challenge!

It's just around the corner and the blues knees and freshly painted toes will be out before we know it... we'll be sitting beside the pool, on the beach, in the beer garden, at a festival wishing we had just DONE IT! Yes, we want to be in our pretty long maxi dresses, our shorts, little sun dresses.. and we have 6 weeks to do it!

So, this is another short challenge, I'm all about taking this journey in steps... but there's a bit of a difference with this one.. each week I'm going to focus on a specific part of weight loss, so 'no junk food week', 'water week' and also some exercise specific ones like 'minutes week', 'variety week' so on.. I've got a few lined up but if there's any that spring to mind then pop them in a comment and I can add them in, we're in this together remember! Again there'll be spot prizes and awards (red carpet time!) and motivation to boot! It's only 6 weeks and again most of us could have a half a stone gone by then! Its all about accountability.. "accountabilibuddies" ... so if you're up for it, commit in a comment below and write down a goal that's just for you.. you want to be in those size 14 jeans? You want to lose 2 inches from your waist? You just want another silver 7 for the back of your card? Your close to goal and need that extra push! Then commit to it here and we can all encourage each other when we lose sight of our goal! Or when the ice cream van passes work... sigh!



Week 1 Mini challenge is to make sure you drink your two litres of water every day, make a conscious effort to get hydrated! Struggling?! Mix half juice and half water, cordials, sparkling if you must.. but try to up the intake.. it will help flush toxins out of your system, its excellent for headaches and your skin will thank you for it and gives you loads of energy.. if you're struggling build it up slowly week by week! Another tip is to get yourself a fancy glass to have your water from, I've got a fancy cocktail glass that I use every at breakfast, then I am a diva in the morning!.. You're kinda important you know, and why keep all the good stuff for visitors!... Also, stick a bottle everywhere you go.. in the car, at your desk, beside your bed.. as you sip throughout the day, you'll hit your target without realising it!


Now set your self some goals and write them down where you can see them! Screen shot on your computer, wallpaper on your phone, stick them to the fridge, bathroom mirror, the visor of your car.. and remember its all achieveable!!!

Here's some examples to start you off...

Weight loss goal - 5lbs, 10lbs
NSV (Non-Scale Victory) - Size smaller in jeans, shirt, 2 inch waist loss, doing something out of your comfort zone..
Exercise - 1 mile, 5 k, 20 lengths in the pool, 3 exercise classes a week... walking with a pal... putting on an exercise DVD a couple of times a week, dancing at the weekends with your friends
Nutrition - Eat 5 pieces of fruit a day, eat more wholegrains, eat more calcium rich foods

  2. Well you can count me in!! I think I'm going to aim to have 12 lbs gone by June 3rd (my birthday) If I lost the 12 lbs I would get my next stone in Weight Watchers. So my starting weight is 18st 7&a half lbs and the goal is 17st 9&a half lbs

  4. I'm in! The last challenge was such a huge motivation for me. My goal is to lose 5 more lbs in the 6weeks so I can get my 2nd stone and be just about halfway to goal.

    Also my exercise goal is to try the couch to 5k in time for the mini marathon in june. Or as much of it as I can manage! Starting this week.

  6. Sounds great, I am in for sure, I watched you all with envy the last time.

    I am a serial ww r, lost 5.5 stones over the last 9 yrs with it. Have put about 1.5 st back on and want to get back to where I was. Tough times as my brother is very sick at moment and I am up in hospital most nights with him, exercise is gone out the window for the moment, Cycling to work tho.

    Anyway my goal for the next 6 weeks is t o keep cooking ww style despite hospital, stress and having no time. I would love to loose half a stone even.

    This is a fab blog and the boards.ie thread for ww is fab also. I love gal support.

  11. I'm in! I want 1st gone in 6wks. I have a wedding the June B/H weekend and the dress that I want to wear is a little tight. I have also only ever worn it with a cardi so I'm off to kettlebell tonight to get my arms summer ready. First bikini holiday with the bf in 12wks, so if I got another stone gone by then I'd be at goal and feeling fabulous!

    In exam mode now in college, so I'm off the drink until the end of May, & considering I drink rum & full fat coke & Guinness, I will hopefully notice a change.

    I'm putting my goal as 1lb a week, meaning 6 pounds before summer! Anything more that 1lb a week will be a bonis, as will all those NON SCALES VICTORIES!

  13. I'm in. I'm 13lbs off goal and would like at least 7 gone by the end of May. I'm going on a shopping trip on the 31st with money in my pocket so want to be as near to goal as possible

  14. I just bought myself a bikini in a size too small. I've decided not to go by the scales. I have endometriosis so my scale weight can fluctuate by as much as 5lbs in the space of a day! V frustrating!

    So, I have bought my bikini & I'm going to take a pic of myself in it tonight, and then on this day every two weeks, so I can compare.

    Not looking forward to the pic tonight, but can't wait to see the last one I take in July! :)

  17. Count me in also. Finally got my act together and joined WW last January. I've lost 2 and a half stone but I'm hovering around 13stone 3lb for a couple of weeks now. It's making me antsy.

  29. oops deleted comment by accident new to this but so glad i found this. started my ww journey yest i have 10 lbs to lose in total. im a new mom to a beautiful little boy now nearly 4 months old!!! so its time to shift those last few pounds. it be great to have it all gone by june BH but even if i was half ways there id be delighted :)

  30. count me in please!! want to get bac to where i was before xmas, which means iv 8lbs to lose, quite do-able i think and this will give me the extra motivation to do it....as will the pair of high waisted shorts i bought that i really really want to fit into (if and when we get the weather for them!!)

    My goal would be exercise - need to do some! Going to join the
    JogScotland beginners group at work and ....... stick with it.

  36. Hi all! I'm in. Want to be down 7lbs by June. Have changed WW class to a morning weigh-in with a really upbeat and motivating leader. Have got myself a bicycle (thanks to cycle to work scheme) and am going to play tag rugby. I always feel like exercise is a chore so I've decided to branch out and try new things! Team sport that's not uber-competitive (such as Tag) is a fun way to get exercise, committed to a 10 week league so there's no backing out now!! Looking forward to getting tips and motivation from all involved in this challenge!!
